Introducing DeepBlue Rounds: A Smarter Routine for Vessel Maintenance

Built for the demands of modern superyacht operations and recognised by DNV and Lloyd’s Register, DeepBlue’s PMS has long provided engineering teams with a robust foundation for planned maintenance.

Now, Rounds adds a new operational layer to that structure — helping management turn routine checks and maintenance activities into clear workflows that crew can navigate and execute directly from the DeepBlue Mobile app as they move through the vessel.

The result is a more guided maintenance process on board, with less searching between individual PMS records and a clearer connection between the work being planned, the work being carried out and the information available for review afterwards.

From PMS records to practical onboard routines

A vessel routine rarely consists of a single task.

An engine-room round, for example, may involve checking equipment readings, completing scheduled maintenance tasks and recording anything that requires follow-up.

Rounds brings those individual PMS activities together into one ordered workflow.

Management can configure the routine on desktop, select the relevant readings and maintenance tasks, arrange them in the sequence in which they should be performed, add instructions where needed and assign the Round to the appropriate crew positions.

Once published, that structure becomes a clear operational pathway for the crew carrying out the work.

Prepared on desktop. Performed at the point of work.

Crew access their assigned Rounds through the DeepBlue Mobile app.

Rather than moving between different PMS records or relying on a separate checklist, they can work through the routine step by step as they move through the vessel.

Each step provides the relevant information within the context of the equipment being checked. Crew can enter readings, review previous values, complete PMS jobs, add comments and attachments, and record additional work directly from their phone or tablet.

That means the work can be recorded where it actually happens, i.e. beside the machinery or equipment, rather than relying on notes that need to be entered into the system later.

And because Rounds is part of DeepBlue’s existing PMS environment, the information does not sit in a separate checklist or parallel system. Channel readings update the relevant records, while maintenance actions update PMS tasks and jobs directly.

A clearer routine for crew

One of the principal benefits of Rounds is clarity.

Each Round presents the work in the order it is intended to be carried out, helping crew understand what needs to be checked, what comes next and what information needs to be recorded.

Instructions can be attached to individual steps, while previous readings and maintenance history provide useful context during the check.

If something unexpected is identified, crew can also create additional work directly against the relevant equipment by either recording work carried out immediately or scheduling a follow-up action for later.

This allows findings to become part of the PMS workflow while the crew member is still working in the context in which the issue was discovered.

More control for management

While Mobile supports the crew carrying out the Round, desktop remains the environment for preparing, managing and reviewing the routines.

Rounds can be configured for different operational requirements and scheduled on demand, at rolling intervals or against fixed calendar dates.

Management can therefore establish repeatable routines for activities such as engine-room rounds, watch checks, daily vessel inspections and other sequential PMS workflows.

Once a Round has been completed, its results can be reviewed together on desktop.

The report presents the execution step by step, including readings, task status, timestamps, comments and attachments, creating a clear record of what was captured during that particular Round.

Reports can also be exported to a branded PDF when the completed record needs to be shared outside the live system.

One connected maintenance workflow

Rounds is not a standalone checklist added alongside PMS.

It builds on the information already held within DeepBlue, bringing existing equipment readings, maintenance tasks, jobs and follow-up work together into a structured operational routine.

For management, that means greater control over how routine work is prepared and reviewed.

For crew, it means a clearer maintenance pathway that can be followed directly from Mobile in their physical workspace.

And for the vessel as a whole, it creates a more connected record between what was planned, what was carried out and what was recorded.

DeepBlue Rounds will be demonstrated at METSTRADE 2026. Visit us at Stand 08.371 to see the complete workflow in action.
